Get Ahead (And Get a Discount) With Baylor University’s Summer of Discovery Program

Baylor University’s Summer of Discovery program is back for 2023, providing discounted summer courses to help students advance in their degree programs. Both incoming and current students can take advantage of this opportunity to make progress on their academic goals, while also leaving room for internships, study abroad, and more.

Through Summer of Discovery, students can attend in-person and online courses taught by Baylor faculty. The courses are discounted from regular tuition rates, with greater discounts available as the number of classes taken increases. This initiative is aimed at making class offerings more accessible to students and helping them get ahead.

Carroll Crowson, Associate Director of Student Initiatives at the Center for Academic Success and Engagement, explained the numerous benefits of the program. “The discounted rate, the opportunity to get ahead on classes, the flexibility of all the online options, even if students are looking to add a minor or certificate to their degree—there are so many reasons students choose to be a part of Summer of Discovery and we’re thankful to be able to offer the option,” Crowson said.

The Summer of Discovery program is available across multiple summer sessions, including the May Minimester, Summer 1, and Summer 2. Current students may choose to attend as many sessions as they’d like, while incoming students may select courses in Summer 1 and Summer 2 sessions.

Most in-person classes meet daily, while online classes vary between set meeting times for synchronous classes and combinations of self-paced reading and lectures with class meeting times for discussion and live interactions with faculty.

Baylor’s top-tier academics and opportunities to form relationships with other students are still present in the Summer of Discovery program. Information about special course bundles and offerings is also available.
