Waco Police Department Offers Junior Police Academy for High School Students

Waco Police Department is now accepting applications for the Junior Police Academy, a two-week program designed for high school students interested in learning about law enforcement and gaining valuable life skills. The academy will run from June 5th to June 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will conclude with a graduation ceremony on June 15th at 6:30 p.m.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must attend high school grades 9th to 12th, have no criminal offenses higher than a Class C misdemeanor, and pass a criminal background check. Completed application forms, along with a background check form, must be submitted by May 12th, 2023.

Accepted students and their parents or guardians are required to attend an orientation meeting on June 1st at 6:30 p.m. at the Waco Police Department located at 3115 Pine Avenue.

The Junior Police Academy offers a unique opportunity for high school students to learn about the law enforcement profession, gain leadership and communication skills, and build relationships with Waco police officers.
