Granny’s Shaved Ice: A Sweet Legacy in Belton, Texas

In 2012, the owner’s great grandmother and mother, Granny, passed away, and shortly after, her grandpa showed up with a bright blue snow cone trailer and encouraged them to share Granny’s joy with others. The owner and her sister, ages 15 and 9 at the time, had no idea what they were doing, but with research and practice, they started setting up in the small town of Holland, TX in 2013.

Granny’s Shaved Ice started small, signing up for small events and setting up at birthdays, but the owner knew she wanted to have a permanent home for the business. After reaching out to the community, one business, Holloway’s Sports, said yes, and Granny’s Shaved Ice had a home on West Adams from 2016-2020. They even operated through the pandemic and saw the community come together during the tough time.

When Holloway’s Sports sold their land in 2020, Granny’s Shaved Ice had to find a new home. Pink Bulldog Boutique reached out to them, and with a similar pink logo, it was a perfect match. Now, 11 seasons later, Granny’s Shaved Ice is serving shaved ice and acai bowls to the Belton community.

The owner is grateful to run this business every day and thankful for the relationship she’s created with her sister. Granny’s Shaved Ice is open Wednesday through Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM, Saturday from 12 PM to 8 PM, and Sunday from 1 PM to 8 PM. Come on down to meet the friendly staff and enjoy a sweet treat!
