Waco ISD Taps Kaeron Johnson as New Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator for University High School

Waco Independent School District (Waco ISD) has selected Kaeron Johnson as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator for University High School, according to a statement by Waco ISD athletic director Ed Love. Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as assistant head football and defensive coordinator at Midway High School and assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Fulshear High School. He has also been a special education and physical education teacher for 11 years.

During his football career, Johnson played for Baylor University and helped the team win the Alamo Bowl and Holiday Bowl Championships. He also received academic all-conference and 3rd team all-conference fullback awards as a Baylor Bear. Johnson is a certified teacher of special education, physical education, and health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in health human performance and recreation from Baylor University and a master’s degree in education from Concordia University.

In his new role, Johnson plans to build on the success of the previous head coach and bring University High School to the next level. He aims to bring home a championship for the school and honor the hard work of the coaching staff and team. Johnson’s appointment received tremendous interest from across the state, according to Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon.
